Your account, explained.
This page describes information handled by IDE4 website accounts, downloads, and the web demo. Updated September 9, 2026.
When you create an account
We use your name, email address, and password to create and authenticate your account. Neon Auth manages the account records, password hashing, and sessions in a dedicated Neon database. Passwords are sent over HTTPS and are not stored as plain text.
Feedback, reviews, and bug reports
When you submit feedback, you agree that IDE4 may feature your review, optional rating, and first name on the website after the owner approves it. Your email, full account name, and attached screenshots are not published. You can withdraw website publication from Feedback & updates in your account.
Bug reports and screenshots are private: only the submitter and the IDE4 owner can view them. We store the text and images you choose to submit, report status, optional app version and platform, moderation history, and account notifications in the website’s Neon database. Screenshots are never collected automatically; remove personal information before attaching them. This submitted content may include project details that you voluntarily choose to share.
Your account receives an update when the owner marks a reported bug fixed or publishes your review. Notifications include the report subject, fix note and version when provided, and read status. Website notifications are not emails. The desktop app can use the same account notification feed.
What stays in your browser
The demo runs the actual IDE4 interface with example projects and past activity. The optional guided tour uses prewritten example responses, runs separately from your workspace, and discards its changes when you leave it. A browser preference remembers whether you have seen the tour invitation. Project names, draft messages, file edits, preferences, colors, and team changes you enter are stored in this browser tab’s session storage. They are not sent to AI providers or saved in the account database. Closing the tab normally clears this workspace state.
Your subscription and activity dashboard
The account dashboard shows your current IDE4 plan, its status and any recorded access expiry, your signup date, and desktop installations connected to your account. The desktop account service records a random installation ID, app version, operating-system family, processor architecture, and the first and latest account check-in. The dashboard reads only your own records. Its activity summaries count connected installations and check-ins, not time spent working or AI requests.
AI token totals, provider allowances, prompts, project files, and conversations are not uploaded to this dashboard. The browser demo’s sample activity is not included in account analytics. Viewing the dashboard does not change your plan or record a desktop check-in. Paid subscriptions are not enabled during the free prototype.
Optional saved cards and billing details
You can optionally save a card from your account page. Stripe’s embedded fields send your full card number and security code directly to Stripe; IDE4 does not receive or store them. Your account page displays only the card brand, last four digits, expiry, and your preferred-card selection. Stripe stores the card and any billing name, email, or address you choose to provide. IDE4 keeps a private link between your account and your Stripe customer record, plus a record of your consent to save a card for future purchases you choose.
Saving a card does not start a subscription or authorize a charge. IDE4 remains free. You can change your billing details, choose a preferred card, or remove saved cards on the account page. A future paid plan will require a separate confirmation of its price and terms. Card verification may require authentication with your bank. Owner analytics
The IDE4 owner can see aggregate signup totals, account-to-desktop connections, app-version and operating-system counts, recent desktop check-ins, unexpired sign-in session counts, and the number of billing profiles. Known verification accounts are excluded from customer totals. GitHub provides aggregate installer download counts, which include repeat downloads and updates. Owner analytics do not collect prompts, conversation contents, project files, or local AI usage. The feedback inbox does receive the messages and screenshots you deliberately submit. Desktop message totals are not currently synced. Owner access is restricted to an explicitly authorized account.
Sessions and hosting
An essential, secure, HttpOnly cookie keeps you logged in. A browser notification synchronizes account changes between tabs; it contains no account details. Logging out ends that session. Vercel hosts the website and its account endpoints; Vercel and Neon may process technical request information to operate and protect their services.
Downloading IDE4
The website checks that you are logged in before starting an installer download. GitHub Releases serves the installer and receives the download request. We do not add a download history to your account.
Download counts
The download total comes from public GitHub release asset counts. The website does not count your button clicks as installs, and the total does not identify individual users.
Your choices
You can reset the sample workspace, recover or change your password, or log out from the demo. Creating an account does not sign you up for marketing emails. For questions or an account-deletion request, contact the project through GitHub. GitHub issues are public: do not include a password, session token, or other private information.
